Pontus Braunerhjelm

Pontus Braunerhjelm is a Research Director at Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum, Professor of national economics at the department of industrial economics and organization (INDEK) at the Royal Institute of Technology,KTH and professor at the department of industrial economics at Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH.

Research Areas

For many years, he has researched issues related to entrepreneurship, innovation and small business and their importance for industrial dynamism and economic growth.

Pontus Braunerhjelm did his dissertation at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland in 1994, and also holds a PhD from the International Business School in Jönköping (1999). His over 200 articles have been published in recognized journals (e.g. Economics Letters, Review of World Economics, Applied Economics, Journal of Evolutionary Economics, Small Business Economics) and he has appeared in several internationally published books (e.g. Kluwer Academic Publishers, CEPR Monitoring European Integration report, and Oxford University Press).

Previously, Pontus Braunerhjelm has, among other things, been chairman of the government’s Entrepreneurship Investigation, CEO of Entrepreneurship Forum, principal secretary of the government’s Globalization Council and deputy CEO of IUI (now IFN) and SNS. Pontus Braunerhjelm has an extensive international and national network of contacts with researchers as well as decision makers in business and politics. Publication of scientific articles has been combined with extensive publications in more popular forums and he is an active participant in the public debate.
