Swedish top scholar wins foremost global entrepreneurship award with a prize sum € 100,000

The 2023 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research goes to Per Davidsson, Professor at Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) and at the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research, QUT Business School. Davidsson is awarded for his role as a pioneer of influential and high-quality research contributions and as a community builder in the entrepreneurship field. The Global Award is the foremost international award in entrepreneurship research with a prize sum of € 100,000.

Per Davidsson’s research on entrepreneurship and culture, and his studies on the growth of small businesses, have contributed fundamentally to the emergence, consolidation and flourishing of entrepreneurship as a scholarly field.

– Receiving the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research is the highest honor you can get as an entrepreneurship researcher. It is a pinnacle of my career, says Per Davidsson.

Professor Davidsson’s most important contributions include:

  • Challenging prevailing assumptions and concepts, contributing to the critical refinement and renewal of the field and moving it forward. He has added to the understanding of a variety of central phenomena in entrepreneurship. His books are foundational and widely used in higher education.
  • By bringing together scholars from all over the world, Professor Davidsson has enabled researchers in the field to meet, interact, and transform the field of entrepreneurship into a vibrant and well-respected domain of scientific inquiry.

With this award, the prize committee recognizes Professor Davidsson’s role as both a pioneer and a community builder in the field of entrepreneurship. Through his mentoring and academic engagement, Professor Davidsson has played a central role in creating a vibrant, global community of entrepreneurship researchers.
